Alonzo King LINES Ballet
San Francisco, California
The Alonzo King LINES Ballet Summer Program is an intensive training experience designed for aspiring dancers ages 11-24. Young dancers are guided through a collaborative journey of artistic risk-taking and independent thinking, during which they are encouraged to explore, solve problems, express themselves with fluency, and realize their full potentials. We aim to give each participant a solid technical foundation, based in classical training, upon which to build his or her own creative power.

We aim to give each participant a solid technical foundation, based in classical training, upon which to build his or her own creative power.
With ballet as the core discipline, we also focus on exposing participants to process-oriented work that explores a variety of dance techniques and styles. We help young dancers hone their individual voices, and place a high priority on educating them in the care and maintenance of their bodies. Our goal is to cultivate strong, well-trained, educated and independent dancers.
Students benefit from a small student-to-teacher ratio and a rigorous schedule that includes a minimum of 40 hours of dancing per week. They train with current and former LINES Ballet company members, and with a stellar roster of renowned choreographers, dancers, and teachers from around the world. Students collaborate with these artists on the creation of new work, which they perform at each session’s end. When available, Alonzo King teaches technique classes and choreographic workshops – a wonderful opportunity for young artists to work with a master.
