Jaqlin Medlock, a native of New York, is a professional dancer and movement photographer. She holds a BFA in Dance and Photography from Marymount Manhattan College, under the direction of Katie Langan. Upon graduating in 2007, Jaqlin began her photography business, Photography By Jaqi. In 2008 she became a vendor at Steps on Broadway and has since photographed two Dancer Magazine covers, Sansha and Lignes Dancewear clothing lines, and has become the Young Choreographers Festival’s official photographer. Jaqlin has performed nationally and internationally, including Teatro Juan Ruiz de Alarcon in Mexico City, His Majesty’s Theatre in Aberdeen, Scotland and Oude Libertas Amphitheater in South Africa. In 2009, she worked as assistant to choreographer Warren Adams at Phoenix Dance Theater in Leeds, England. In 2010, she became a member of the Home4Dance media production team, and with them had the pleasure of photographing Savion Glover at the Joyce Theater in NYC. Jaqlin has also danced for numerous companies including STEPS Repertory Ensemble, DreDance, NY2, DeMa Dance Company and Bennyroyce Dance Productions. She joined Stephen Petronio Company in September of 2011, and in December of 2011, Jaqlin was nominated for the ‘Emergent Artist Award’ based out of Dubai, United Arab Emirates, for her “Swimming Without Water” photo series. Most recently, she was featured in Dance Magazine’s ‘ On The Rise’ column in their August 2012 issue.
