An elegant dancer, she must have strong dance and partnering skills and great comedic timing. Though no one notices her beneath her rags and quiet demeanor, she is opinionated, charismatic, passionate, funny, and effortlessly beautiful. Idealistic and hopeful, she courageously challenges the prince to change the policies in his kingdom – and helps him discover who he truly is. Friendship, love, and the quest for redemption play out for one of showbiz’s most unique trios in the telling of this remarkable story. [Liberace] (Male, 25-66) -Famous international showman, television personality, beloved iconic performer. Bb2-A4 (Low Bb to tenor A). [Ben Siegel] (Male, Early 40s)- Better known as “Bugsy Siegel” the infamous New York gangster, trying to play it straight by building the Flamingo Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas in 1946. He uses mob money from Al Capone and the syndicate. Bb2 - G4 (low Bb to tenor G). [Virginia Hill] (Female, 30s)- Strong, independent party girl. Ben’s girlfriend, madly in love with Ben. The two join forces to build the Flamingo Hotel and Casino. G3 - Gb5 (low alto G to high Gb). [Frances Liberace] (Female, 30s-60s) Doting, overbearing mother of Liberace. *Note: could be played by the same actress playing Sophie Tucker. G3 - F5 (low alto G to high F). [Sophie Tucker] (Female, 50’s)- International star of stage, screen, and Broadway who teaches Liberace a thing or two about show business. *Note: could be played by the same actress playing Frances Liberace. A sassy southern drag queen and pediatric nurse, his bold onstage persona masks the deep pain and rising anger he feels from the daily injustices he has known growing up gay in North Carolina. Michael is a precocious 10 year-old boy with a cheeky fascination for adult conflict, who opens his arms to anyone wishing to be called ‘family’.
