He hatches the idea of disguising Victoria as Victor and they both find it does not take them where they expected; baritone. King Marchan: Male, 40-55, A powerful businessman and possible gangster from Chicago who seems to have both power and money. He is sexy, charming, handsome and moves through life with ease and confidence; baritone. Squash Bernstein: Male, 25-45, The right-hand-man, bodyguard, professional muscle-for-hire for a Chicago business man King Marchan. He is as tough as they come but smarter than he looks; tenor Henri Labisse: Male, 40-60, The proprietor of Chez Lui, a nightclub of questionable repute that definitely operates on the shady side of Paris; bass; French accent expected. Seeking:Roles include: Maysoon (20s, Middle Eastern, female): Wears a hijab and gets targeted for it but tries to practice self-control. Self-confident and self-nurturing, principled, smart, reasonable, protective, aggressive if provoked. Woman (30s-40s, Middle Eastern, female): Intelligent, successful investment banker of Iraqi heritage, a candidate then new member of an anonymous, exclusive punishment club for high-earning individuals. Voice (30s-40s, female): Interviewer for an anonymous, exclusive, high-society punishment club. Never seen, only heard. Authoritative, direct, concise, somewhat compassionate. Noor (early 20s, Middle Eastern, female): A 10-year old Syrian girl surviving in her bombed-out house with her brother, sentimental and protective, in a wheelchair numb from the waist down. Hadi (early 20s, Middle Eastern, male): An 8-year old Syrian boy surviving with his sister in their bombed-out house, cynical and intelligent, his vision is severely impaired from the bombing two days ago. Lieutenant Mehmet (early 40s, Middle Eastern, male): High-level lieutenant of a run-down military office in Turkey, in charge of torture. Commanding, gruff, self-serving. Soldier (30s, Middle Eastern, male): Only soldier left in a run-down Turkish military office whose main job is the disposal of bodies. Dutiful, hard-working, capable of a conscience. Ayca (early 20s, Middle Eastern, female): An investigative journalist interviewing the shifty Turkish lieutenant to solve the mystery of a missing girl. Beautiful, clever, resourceful, vengeful. Teacher (30s-40s, Middle Eastern, female): Palestinian teacher of English to young girls in Gaza, progressive, feminist, intelligent, cautious but bold. Hitler (40s, Caucasian, male): Hitler in his heyday, dressed in full Nazi garb. Lives in his own space, laughs but never speaks. Kella (40s, Middle Eastern, female): Strong, structured, straightforward but inflexible manager of global company Globitron in the post-apocalyptic country of Spenglia in the year 2025. Shelb (30s-40s, Middle Eastern, female): Sweet, cheerful, long-time employer at Globitron who trains Meetoo. Broken down by the job but doesn’t know it. Metoo (20s-30s, Middle Eastern, female): An everywoman, hard-working, loving single mother, new to this post-apocalyptic country, new employee of Globitron, reluctant about this job but needs money for her son’s impending surgery. The Missile (30s-40s, Non-Middle Eastern, male): A missile on its first and final flight over a small village in Yemen, confident, shares knowledge and pleasure with audience, must be good with language and nuance.

Chin: Male, 25-39, tenor to A; Chinese; an immigrant NYC cab driver who works the night shift; Chin is super confident, but a tortured soul; quick on his feet, he loves Sherlock Holmes; doesn’t need validation from anyone; his girlfriend and child remain in China; must speak fluent English but also be able to speak in a Chinese accent. Mike: Male, 20-39, tenor to G; Chinese American; a John Cho type; Mike is a privileged, ambitious journalist who goes to great lengths to pursue a deeper understanding of Eng and Chin’s tragic story; his investigation leads to a confession of his own complicity in the events that occurred, and a new understanding of the “American Dream.” Tak And Others: Male, 25-29, tenor. Asian / Asian American; Tak is a Chinese immigrant who arrived in the US around the same time as Eng, works in a restaurant, and is now Eng’s roommate and close friend; funny/quirky/nerdy with a big heart; not at all bothered with being the punchline of any joke. Ms. Lopez And Others: Female, 30-49, soprano; Latinx; Ms. Lopez is an immigration worker; this track will encompass a broad spectrum of characters from no-nonsense to sloppy drunk comedy; bold sense of humor and strong character acting ability with a variety of accents is required. Grace & Others: Female, 25-35, mezzo-soprano; Asian / Asian American; this actor portrays both Grace, Eng’s determined, charming and hopeful wife who immigrates from China, as well as a variety of other characters in NYC; strong character acting with ability to do a Queens accent is a plus; role also requires a standard American accent and English fluency. Wilson And Others: Male, 30-59, tenor; Caucasian; strong character actor with a flair for comedy, as well as grounded drama; this actor plays a variety of roles including an Eastern European immigrant, a “Bridge and Tunnel” type, and a desperate immigration bureaucrat. Uncle Lo And Others: Male, 40-69, baritone. Asian / Asian American. Uncle Lo is Chin’s extremely proud uncle, who previously immigrated to the US; this actor portrays a broad spectrum of characters from bold and authoritative, to sloppy drunk comedy; role requires a Chinese accent, a “New York Italian” accent, and English fluency.
