Seeking:Nick: Male, 30-45, a hardworking "gumshoe" detective responsible for keeping the investigation at "Shear Madness" on track. A personable character actor who can also be an excellent comic straightman. Must be an actor not intimidated by a boisterous audience. Requires a nice looking, masculine actor with a solid voice and solid acting skills who can learn the dynamics that will keep the play moving forward. Although he sometimes plays dumb, this actor must be very bright. Tony: Male, 25-40, the likable, flamboyant, irrepressible proprietor of the "Shear Madness" salon. Seeking:Ann: Female, 20-29, vocal style: strong R&B, pop belt, should also have an intimate, sweet mix sound. A farm girl who comes to New York City full of dreams to be an actress and finds her dreams dashed by closed doors and the poverty of the Depression. Her ambition tears at her moral framework as she embarks on a transcontinental adventure that changes her life. Her combination of fierce determination to succeed, courage, and empathy make her a force to be reckoned with. Carl: Male, 27-39, strong contemporary baritone. Any ethnicity. An aspiring filmmaker who wants to make dreams, create wonder, and become the most powerful film director in the world. An adventurer who finds romance in high seas and faraway lands and will do anything, no matter how callous or morally reprehensible, to achieve greatness. He is fun and funny. Unaware of the impact his actions have on others. Male & Female Singers (Chorus / Ensemble): Males & Females, 20-39, a company of diverse, energetic, and hotblooded chameleons: in the daylight they should represent the vibrant multicultural fabric of modern-day New York, but at night they become the eerie creatures of Skull Island and the tireless sailors that battle a brutal sea voyage. Must be excellent dancers and singers. Members of the ensemble will cover the following three principal roles: Ann, Carl, and Lumpy. Lumpy: 30s-40s; strong character baritone; a lovely man who has been slapped in the face more times than a clown and has the face to prove it; Lumpy always gets up and gets on and tries to do his best; has worked with Carl for many years, mostly because Carl keeps him paid; but unlike others who are swept up in Carl's latest promises, Lumpy remains a realist and a moral man; he knows what is right and tries to uphold it. Male & Female Dancers (Chorus / Ensemble): Males & Females, 18+, a company of diverse, energetic, and hotblooded chameleons: in the daylight they should represent the vibrant multicultural fabric of modern-day New York, but at night they become the eerie creatures of Skull Island and the tireless sailors that battle a brutal sea voyage.
