Seeking:Dotty Otley/Mrs. Clacket: Female, 50-65, an attractive but fading former leading lady. She is forgetful, confused and a bit coy. Dotty (offstage) is a veteran British actress who has put up her life savings to mount "Nothing On.” She is dating Garry, though she attempts to make him jealous by meeting with Freddy. Doubles as Mrs Clackett, the housekeeper for the Brent’s home in England. Mrs. Clackett is hospitable but a bit put-out with the sudden onslaught of visitors. She is working-class.

Seeking:Amir: Male, Pakistani-American, late 30s-early 40s. He is a well-educated and well-dressed New York corporate lawyer at odds with his Muslim heritage, and in denial about the depth of his faith; he is American born of Pakistani descent and speaks perfect American English; like all the characters in the play, he is glib, urban, driven, and extremely intelligent; Emily is his wife; he feels he is on the verge of a career breakthrough, but is insecure about his standing at the firm. Abe: Male, Pakistani–American, 22. Amir's nephew. He is as mainstream American as they come--his wardrobe staples include skinny jeans, high tops, hoodies, and graphic tees; Abe is becoming somewhat of a young Muslim activist in his community; he is passionate, headstrong, and devout in his beliefs; he loves his uncle, and seeks his approval while at the same time the two are at idealistic odds regarding the Muslim faith. Isaac: Male, 34-47, Caucasian, a successful Jewish art curator married to Jory; a vibrant and seductive personality, he draws people in with his charmingly quick wit, easy manner and passion-- passion about art, about politics, about his family, and about his Jewish faith. Jory: Female, 34-39, African American, recently made partner in Amir's firm; married to Isaac; Jory is strikingly beautiful, intelligent, forthright, and sharp; an articulate and confident woman who has wrestled her way to the top; she is not afraid to fight with the big boys and get her hands dirty if necessary.

Sidney Johnson: Male, 20-25, African American, he is strong willed and devoid of good fortune; Sidney is an anachronism and therefore doomed in his environment; he is a revolutionary lacking comrades in arms. Hayes Turner: Male, 20-35, African American, the husband of Mary Turner; his love for his wife is both noble and naïve; his love for her, even in the afterlife, is the chief causal fuel of the play.
