Bernard is the quintessential 1960’s playboy who is managing three love affairs at the same time. He is a charming, hustling, lovable rascal who has no idea just how in over his head he really is. Has strong comedic timing. Robert (Male, 30–50) Bernard's old school chum from Wisconsin. Robert has lived a simple somewhat sheltered life in Wisconsin. He is sweet, unobtrusive, and shy but turns quickly nervous and clumsy when trying to help Bernard conceal his secrets when circumstances demand. Has strong comedic timing. Gretchen (Female, 20-40) A German air hostess and fiancée to Bernard. Gretchen yearns for extreme passion and has found the perfect fix in Bernard, or so she thinks. She is strong, dominating, and caring but can become quite thin-skinned particularly when her feelings of passion are conflicted. German accent Berthe (Female, 30-70) Bernard's French Housekeeper. Berthe has honed her French existential brand of sarcasm to a T. She is the classic grumbling, rye, clever, and ever-complaining house maid who knows how to play her cards right to get what she wants. French accent. Rock of Ages Drew- Male, 20s (Vocal Range: Bb3-D5) An appealing, handsome, good-guy rocker with great boyish charm and vulnerability. Due to current circumstances, he might finally have that opportunity and he’s not about to give it up, unaware the man he’s sacrificed so much for is responsible for what he’s become - a man of broken dreams and dead ambition. Susan Gallagher- Tom's ex-wife. Mid to late forties. Susan is a capable, smart woman living in self- imposed exile from the city she loves and Tom, the man she left but never stopped loving. Despite carrying the burden of secrets from the past that she’s promised to keep, she is now willing to risk everything to keep Tom from sacrificing what’s left of his life to a man she alone knows to be the cause of everyone’s unhappiness. Daryl Parton- Transgender Female, Mid-forties to early sixties. Who we meet is someone still reeling not only from the loss of their much-loved life partner but also the financial security their partner had provided. In need of employment but unwilling to fully compromise who they is - an aging but confident and unapologetic themselves - Daryl alters their preferred more flamboyant expression of self in order to not scare off potential employers. Presented the opportunity of caring for someone they have always been a fan of - James Gallagher - makes securing this job even more important. But underneath whatever exterior they choose to present lies a wise, empathetic, and loving soul held strong by a fierce and indomitable spirit. Elf Buddy (Male 20s-30s, Vocal range: Tenor Bb2 – A4) The perfect elf. He’s good-natured, he means well, and he’s happy all the time. There’s only one problem. He’s not an elf, he’s an adult human. Good singer with energetic earnestness and comedic timing. Buddy is preferably taller than the other Elves. This will help differentiate Buddy and adds to the humor of the show. Has strong movement skills and is able to rollerblade. Tap dancing a plus. Jovie (Female 20s-30s, Vocal range: Alto G3 – D5) works as a store elf at Macys, but don’t be mistaken, she doesn’t quite exude the Christmas spirit. She’s kind of cynical, a bit tough around the edges, and now the target of Buddy’s complete adoration. Has an amazing singing voice with a strong belt up to a D flat. Has strong movement skills and is able to rollerblade. Tap dancing a plus. Emily, (Female 40s-50s, Vocal Range: Alto F3-D5) Emily Hobbs is Walter ’s devoted wife who would prefer her husband to spend a little more time at home. She is a problem solver and an excellent mother who is doing everything she can to provide a positive family dynamic. Excellent singer who effortlessly conveys a sense of maturity and warmth. Has a strong belt up to a C. Walter (Male, 40s-50s, Vocal range: High Baritone A2-G4) Buddy’s real father, is so focused on keeping his job that he is not making time for his family. He can be stern and unemotional at times, but ultimately, he learns to recommit to his family. Has a strong, authoritative presence, but also shows his softer side. Strong movement and tap skills a plus.
