If you have a few hours to spare, the entire 1998 West End revival starring Hugh Jackman is here on YouTube, as well as scenes and songs from other incarnations of the classic musical:

Think about using a legit song for your audition, potentially from another 1940s musical like Oklahoma!
Our Virtually Vocal Picks
1. “Geraniums in the Winder” (Tenor) from Carousel
2. “They Say It’s Wonderful” (Alto, Mezzo) by Irving Berlin from Annie Get Your Gun

Pasadena Playhouse is holding an Equity Chorus Call for female singers to play the Joplinaires in A Night With Janis Joplin on May 8.

The Joplinaires back up Janis Joplin as well as portraying a number of 1960s music icons. Here are some references for you for what they might be looking for at auditions:
Aretha Franklin
The most charted female artist in Billboard history, with 18 Grammy Awards, and often considered the greatest singer of all time.

Nina Simone
A singer-songwriter, civil rights activist, and fifteen-time Grammy Award nominee.

Bessie Smith
The most popular female blues singer of the 1920s and 1930s, influencing an entire generation of jazz vocalists.

CENTRAL:
Old Log Theater is producing The Wedding Singer and holding Equity appointment-only auditions on May 4 and 5 in Excelsior, Minnesota.

The original movie is available to rent on Amazon.com or YouTube. At the very least, check out the trailer to get to know the premise for this fun and kooky musical!

This musical takes place in 1985, with lots of references to food and people that were popular during that year. Familiarize yourself with Julia and Robbie’s America with this rundown of events and trends from LikeTotally80s.com.

BoHo Theatre is taking appointments for non-union musical theatre performers in the Chicago area to audition for Dogfight on Saturday May 2 and Sunday May 3.

Dogfight was an Off-Broadway hit at Second Stage Theatre in 2012, telling the story of a soldier on leave and the quiet waitress he asks out in hopes of winning the dogfight – a competition with his shipmates to show off the ugliest girl they can find. Lindsay Mendez was nominated for a Drama League Award, a Drama Desk Award, and an Outer Critics Circle Award for her performance as Rose Fenny, and Derek Klena was nominated for a Clive Barnes Award for his portrayal of Eddie Birdlace. The duo record one of their duets on the original cast album here:

EASTERN:
Fireside Theater in Fort Atkinson, WI will be holding auditions in New York from May 4 through May 8, 2015 for A Wonderful Life and West Side Story.

The Fireside is one of the Midwest’s most popular professional theaters and celebrated its 50th anniversary last year. It’s a family-owned business founded by Richard and Betty Klopcic in 1964 and now overseen by their descendants. Learn more about The Fireside here and attend the Stage Door Connections professional seminar with choreographer Kate Swan on May 2, 2015 to prepare for the dance auditions.
