Village Theatre is holding Equity Chorus Calls for singers in Seattle, WA for Snapshots and My Heart Is The Drum on March 27, 28, 30 and 31, 2015

Snapshots is a musical created around the music of Stephen Schwartz, so if you’re crazy about Wicked, Godspell, or Pippin, this could be the show for you!

This one-act musical was developed at Goodspeed’s Norma Terris Theater in Connecticut in the summer of 2013 and features over 20 of Schwartz pieces spanning his entire career. Check out some highlights here!

Since this musical is geared towards Schwartz’s music, consider something upbeat composed by Schwartz or another contemporary rock/pop musical theatre composer, such as Alan Menken, Andrew Lloyd Webber, or Brian Lowdermilk.

Our Virtually Vocal Picks
1. “Dancing All The Time” (Alto, Mezzo, Belt) by David Shire from Big
2. “Go The Distance (Tenor) by Alan Menken from the movie “Hercules”
3. “I Can Hear The Bells” (Mezzo, Belt) by March Shaiman from Hairspray
4. “You And Me (But Mostly Me)” (Baritone/Tenor) by Trey Parker, Robert Lopez, and Matt Stone from The Book of Mormon
5. “Beethoven Day” (Tenor) by Andrew Lippa from You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown

Encore Entertainers is holding open auditions in Torrance, CA for Les Miserables on March 30, March 31, and April 1st.

What's this show even about?
The musical is based on an EXTREMELY lengthy novel by Victor Hugo. While you probably don’t have time to read it before your audition, get a sense of the characters and the world they live in by going through the Sparknotes.

This musical is commonly linked to the French Revolution in the later 18th century, but it’s actually about the young revolutionaries who led the 1832 June Rebellion. Read more here about the connection between Les Miserables and the historical events that it’s based on here.

Steppenwolf Theatre Company is holding EPAs for their 2015-2016 season on March 30, April 1, and April 2.

What should I know?
Domesticated, a drama about a philandering politician and his wife, was written by Bruce Norris. Norris’s play Clybourne Park was staged at Steppenwolf in the fall of 2011 after it received the Pultizer Prize for Drama and transferred to Broadway, where it won the 2012 Tony Award for Best Play.

Between Riverside and Crazy is currently playing in New York at Second Stage’s Tony Kiser Theater. To learn more about this play, check out this episode of “Theater Talk” with the author Stephen Adly Guirgis, the director Austin Pendleton, and cast member Stephen McKinley.

A national tour of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat will be cast from auditions on March 30, March 31, and April 1!
